ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Lisa Stewart M.Ed.

I'm Lisa, a special education advocate and behavioral support expert. I help parents navigate the complex and often confusing world of special education and advocate for their child's rights and needs. I also provide coaching on how to advocate for evidence-based strategies to improve your child's academic, social, and emotional outcomes.

I created this guide and this mailing list to share my knowledge and experience with you and help you make a positive difference in your child's life. As a bonus, you'll also receive regular tips and resources from me on how to support your child's learning and behavior at home and at school.

  • Credibility: Lisa is a parent and former teacher of special education students.
  • Authority: Lisa has a master's degree in behavior and behavioral support for kids with special needs.
  • Benefit: This is an easy way (that will require a little work upfront, but works is in the long run) to teach your child life skills.

Simple and Effective

Backwards chaining is a simple and effective teaching method that breaks down a task into smaller steps and teaches them in reverse order. It helps your child experience success and confidence from the start, and reduces frustration and increases motivation as they take over more and more of the task.

By using backwards chaining, you'll not only teach your child how to do chores, but also how to learn new skills, solve problems, and cope with challenges. You'll also help your child develop a sense of accomplishment, self-esteem, and responsibility.
